| [color=violet]Gambling played a big part in the Macua's history. Macua mad gambling legal in the 1850's, this opened many options to make income of this country. Open casinos was regular in Macua. The made Macua popular with many countrys. Now Macua is know as the Asian Las Veges. Gambling has played the biggest role in economy. In 1999, Chinese took over Macua again which attract Chinese gansters. Personally, I think the would be in troble since gambling is very dangerous. | |

| Describe the role and history of gambling in Macau in four sentences.
The gambling in Macau makes a serious social impact on the local area so that would be a huge role. It attracts a lot of people and there are sometimes disputes about what people go to what casinos. They fight over territory and there are disputes between different societies. Some of these fights and disputes are very physical and harmful. These fights were a huge problem that the people in Macau casinos had to face. | |

| After reading the passage about gambling in Macau, (or "Monte Carlo of the Orient") I have noticed that gambling plays a huge role in the economy. Many Hong Kong and mainland tourists like gambling there. It's history is that it has been legal since the 1850's. When the Portuguese government made possible the activity in the colony. | |

| When I finished reading the passage about gambling in Macau I saw that it has a big impact on itself. In some good ways and some bad, because it's considered harmful to their society. Crime rate was high and it was one of the biggest problems Macau's government had to face. The public security had improved after this and I think that is definitely a good thing because if it hadn't then they'd still be facing the same problem for quite some time. | |

| There were over 200 gambling houses to pay gambling rent to government. The first casino monopoly concession was granted to the Tai Xing Company in 1937. Then later on, the monopoly game got granted the rights to all forms of gambling. That brought millions to Hong Kong every year. The license was extended in 1986 for another 15 years but expired at the end of 2001. | |

| some of the biggest problems that Macau's colonial Portuguese government had to deal with was that there was a high crime rate. also a business called "bate-ficha" was selling their customers "dead chips" that cannot be exchanged for cash in the casinos. also triad involvement in macau casinos makes a serious social impact on the local areas because it attracted chinese gangsters, whose deadly battles over the fortunes are a continuing problem. Even worse, triad societies have grown so powerful in macau that people tried to seek help from them rather than from the police. Thouse were some problems of the history of gaming in macau. | |

| Reading this passage, i have noticed that gambling there has become a significant part of the city's economy. Now, with all the casinos built in the territory including a few number of new ones (some of them are Las Vegas giant companies) opening up soon, Macau is also known as the Asian Las Vegas. It is also interesting that many Hong Kong and mainland tourists like gambling there. | |

| The role of the casino played a huge role in history. First of all the economy thrives off of the casinos, and many people from Hong Kong and a lot of tourists go to the casinos to. But there is something bad about it to, a high crime rate was one of the biggest problems that Macau's colonial Portuguese government had to face until it returned under Chinese government in 1999. And that is what I thought Macau's casino's played in history. | |

| Gambling plays a huge role in Macau's economy. A lot people from Hong Kong and many tourists frequently visit the casinos. One main problem was the high crime rate. This pushed the government to make gambling illegal in the 1850's. Gambling has become so popular there that the city is now called the "Las Vegas of Asia." this is how casinos in Macau effected it's history. | |
