| Hello Class, For tonight's assignment, read the following article: http://www.gamblingorigins.com/gambling-history-dice.shtml (Copy the link into the address bar of a new window.) You are required to post a response to this article on this forum. In your post, answer the following question regarding the article "Dice in Ancient Times": WHAT is the most interesting fact you learned about dice or gaming in the article? Why do you feel this way? Explain. Write at least three sentences. This does count as a homework grade, and remember, the best response from each class will earn a bonus point on the next quiz. If you have any questions, please message me on the forum or email me at nweaver@loyalsocklancers.org. Thanks, guys! I'm really looking forward to reading your responses. - Mr. Weaver

| The most interesting fact I learned from the site was that dice were invented a long time ago. I mean way before 1,000 B.C. You know before Trojans and greeks. Pretty interesting huh? | |

| The most interesting fact i learned from reading that passage was the things they used to play the games. They would use all different kinds of things. It said they used sea shells, pebbles, and a lot of other interesting things. I feel this way because i think it's very cool and interesting to know that they used those different things to play those games. | |

| The most interesting thing i learned from the passage was how different cultures would use dice to determine different things. For example in the passage it said that the roman historians Tacitus, said that in certian german tribes people that ran out of money would offer thier freedom. So then if they lost the winner of the game would have the choice to either sell or keep the enslaved person. And it also said that people would us the dice as magical symbols to see the future. So in all i feel that this would be the most interesting fact about the passage because we are learning about different cultures and what they used dice and other objects to represent. | |

| The most interesting fact I learned about dice and gaming from this passage is that they were were not limited to the classical civilizations and members of cultures from around the world have gambled with dice that have unusual markings and shapes. Such as, plum stones, peach pits, seeds, pebbles, bones, deer horn, pottery, walnut shells, seashells, and beaver teeth to play dice games. I feel this way because I think it's really cool how many types of dice were originated all over the world and the history of it. | |

| The most interesting thing I learn from the article was in ancient times, giving your life away was a prize in gambling. I think that it wasn't the best choice to give your life, but I 'm only basing it on life today. If i were in that type of situation that i would consider what else i could gamble. I would be scared if I was going to be sold to someone else or work my entire life for someone. | |

| The most interesting fact I learned about dice and gaming from this passage is that dice was not limited to the so-called classical civilizations. It was also interesting that they gambled with dice featuring unusual shapes and markings. Such as, plum stones, peach pits, pebbles, seeds, bones, deer horn, pottery, walnut shells, beaver teeth, and seashells. I feel this way because it is interesting to learn about the history of the dice and where it came from. | |
