| Triad involvement in Macau casinos makes a serious social impact on the local area. It attracts the attention of Chinese gangsters, whose deadly battles over the fortunes to be made from racketeering and extortion in the territory are a continuing problem. As different triad societies compete for controlled territory in the casinos and on the streets, disputes between societies occur from time to time. These are often settled in violent ways. | |

| Gambling in Macau has been legal since the 1850's. It has become a significant part of the city's economy. Until western style casino games were introduced in the 20th century, only Chinese games were played. Now with all the casinos built in their territory Macau is known as the Asian Las Vegas. | |

| One thing would be that gambling in Macau has been legal since the 1850s. Also, Gambling in Macau plays an important role in the economy of the city. Another thing would be that an attempt to generate revenues for the government, gambling in Macau was legalized in 1847. Finally, it is reported that over 200 gambling houses were required to pay gambling rent to the government. So, as you can see there are some things about Macau. Jill(: | |
